The war child train in the film comes from the Karelian Isthmus in the summer of 1944, travels via Kuopio and Haaparanta to Stockholm. Haaparanta has a tea sauna and a medical check-up as well as a check of handover papers. Another batch of Karelian war children travels to Umeå via Helsinki and Vaasa in the summer of 1944.
